SEASON GOALS
Software
As a rookie software team, our main goal for this season is to learn as much as we can about FTC programming, creating an efficient robot, etc. Some more of these goals include:
Create an effective code outline for use in future seasons
Auto using road runner
Dead-wheel odometry
Incorporate April Tag functionality and utilize OpenCV to detect the team prop and place our starting pixels in their designated locations
Tele-op with mecanum drive that will be able to work with our outtake, intake, and lifts
Effectively program servos, which will involve us configuring their positions to properly work the mechanism
Digital feedback to aid in detecting when the robot is ready to drop the pixels
We will aim to look to these goals for guidance throughout the course of the season. We have a lot to learn and are very excited for this new season, Centerstage!
Hardware
As of the 2023–2024 Centerstage season of FTC robotics, our goals concerning hardware focus on finding creative and effective solutions to problems. These goals include:
Keeping our robot under 12” to allow for driving under all parts of the rigging
Learning the aerodynamics and physics behind what makes paper airplanes fly and using that knowledge to make an optimal drone and drone launcher
Making a fast lift that only requires one motor
Creating an intake that can quickly take in pixels while never letting the robot possess more than two at a time
Making a drivetrain that is both quick and capable of scoring while another team is playing defense on our robot
Creating a mechanism that allows our robot to hang in under one second
Adding all necessary sensors for software to program both reliable auto and tele functionally into the robot
We believe that by giving ourselves these many strict goals, we will ensure that our robot this year is both reliable and highly effective on the field. As a team, we are all very excited for this season, and we hope to see you at competition!
Marketing
This year, our primary marketing objective is to demonstrate how robotics can be applied in various industries. We reached this goal for various reasons which include:
After noticing that the students in our school were not interested in robotics we realized there was an issue
Misconceptions about robotics being limited to engineering and computer science students perpetuate stereotypes within the field
Students in the organization are interested in various fields such as medicine, biochemistry, business, etc.
We would like to show that robotics has applications in numerous fields through meaningful outreach
We want to dedicate this 2023-2024 season to proving robotics is for everyone, regardless of what major you would like to study or what your interests are, robotics has something for you.
